Static IP

Yea, like I really understand what it is. I guess I know a little bit now that I read about it.

Anyhow...every now and then, my email gets blocked for being spam (which it is not!) My host company Midphase, who I am pleased with, suggested changing to a static IP for $24 per year.

So...is there any reason not to? Maybe something I am not aware of?

Thanks

The reason for the static IP is that it will no longer be shared by potential spammers who will cause your IP to be flagged and blocked.

But this might not fix your problem as in some cases whole Hosting companies are looked down upon by some services because of their users.

I would move to someone like Godaddy if I was you.

it gives you a reason to call your clients to ask did you get my email..check your spam filter..it works....oh there you are....now click the link I provided.....

I have 5 statics and host my own site and email server. You are better off going with Google apps though for a small company and I myself was going to convert to Google apps as well for the docs etc.
Even with my own static ip, some Russian guys spammed my ip address and burnt it out and put me in terrible predicament about 8 months ago. Static ips don't necessarily mean safety is my point.

If you want your one-on-one email to get through, use a different website for anything that might be perceived as spam.

Nothing is as frustrating as trying to email and application and not having it go through because your domain is on the spam list.

You can use Outlook or to send email from domain B that looks like it came from domain A. The advantage is that if domain B gets banned, you can still send email from domain A.

I wrote my own drip email program, but before I did that I used verticalresponse.com.

Email Marketing for Small Businesses | VerticalResponse can send bulk email to your list. I think it costs a penny or less per email.

They do a good job of getting through the spam filters. However, you have to give them a good list. If the emails you send through them bounce too much, they will ban you.
