Anyone ever any experience with this company? They are nationwide, and put preneed agents in funeral homes. Input appreciated:) Newby?

All I can tell you is that the management are former Loewen (now defunct) and SCI execs who wound up with mostly cemetery properties. Loewen went bankrupt buying up cemeteries and funeral homes in the 1990s, as cemeteries tend to lose money. SCI and other chains got a lot of funeral homes from their merger with Alderwoods, who bought Loewen. Actually, Loewen morphed into AWoods after the bankruptcy.

Some of the cemeteries without a funeral home connection got sold off... so I am guessing Stonmor has a lot of cemeteries and not many funeral homes, except on the West Coast where it is the norm to have funeral home/cemetery combinations.

I have no idea what kind of insurance product they would offer, but it probably involves selling tombstones :1eek:

I don't know anything about them but I would say that Big Jake sounds like he's spot on.

As a general rule, cemetery sales companies are horrible people and complete bottom feeders. If you can pick up a contract to be an independent outside sales rep and make a little extra coin, that's fine. But don't get in the water with them. They are, as a general rule, desperate bottom-feeders.

That's my opinion anyway. I haven't met many exceptions to that.

Wow, newby, that was bold:D

I got into bed with all those chains when I sold my practice, and the saga continues . . . for 12 years now. Plus I worked for one chain before and after my stint as an owner. If it weren't for the greenbacks and 401 match some of these guys do, I would RUN the other way.

Plus, a little tombstone sandwich aint bad every now and again:D

That's just been my experience. I'm just one person. Others may have a different perspective.
