I just got an earful from a client.....guy is on an HSA plan.....needs a colonoscopy (second one of these this month)......doctors office told him it would be covered 100% on a non-grandfathered plan....he wants to dump his current carrier now.....

I of course pointed out that more than half (in my experience) of colonoscopys come back with a diagnosis code which kicks the claim out of the preventative benefit and back to the deductible/coinsurance.....I also mentioned that I cannot write his 3 kids anywhere right now......

I imagine we'll all be hearing alot more of this as the "Obamacare bailout for doctors" gains traction.......should be great for trend next year......

.needs a colonoscopy (second one of these this month)......

This guy is having way too much fun to go through that again. Most will let one colonoscopy do them for at least a year, but 2 in one month?

Is he gay?

Beyond that, if he applies for a new plan and the carrier finds out his doc has ordered a colonoscopy they will delay action until he gets the results. If they find more than a couple of polyps he is dead in the water. Won't be able to get a policy with anyone for at least a year.

So much for those free colonoscopy's.

Bob, I think the OP was saying this is the second "like" problem this month? Not that the insured was having a second procedure.
At least, that is my read.
