Switching from a MADP to Original Medicare while in SNF

United Healthcare pays 50% of the standard commission on GI business. At least they do in my state.

Some carriers will term your contract if you write too much GI biz. That's another reason not to burn your bridges, especially if it is a carrier you use on a regular basis.

Maybe carriers like UHC don't care and are like Mikey (Life cereal) . . . they will take anyone who fogs a mirror. Those chickens will come home to roost eventually . . . even for a big carrier like UHC.

they have MAPD plan, is that GI situation, since they are moving away from service area?

The answer is not exactly. The company has to not offer services in that area at all in order to get GI.

Moving out of your area doesn't mean you're moving out of the service area.

If there is coverage in the area with the current company, but there are additional MAPD plans, you can only switch MAPD plans and do not get GI at all.

Most larger companies make getting GI more difficult.

In my state they pay 100% of regular commission and so do 2 other of my top companies. This definitely varies by state. I've written maybe 3 in 12 years
