T65 Common Questions

Part A (esp. when there's a chance of retro coverage) and HSA is a good topic.

What does and does not (employer type coverages) count as creditable Part D coverage. -- This one doesn't make sense to me. It's not like employers offer "type" X, Y, Z and only Z is creditable. When people enroll into benefits, they should be mindful about which plans are creditable or not. And for those 65 or older they should be getting a separate notice from their employer as to whether or not the drug coverage is creditable.

You might be confusing what kind of employer (active vs retiree) is creditable for Part B enrollment?

Yes. Thanks.

Since I don't deal with them every day I get the time periods for Part B Sep and Med Sup initial enrollment after Part B effective date mixed up regularly. I also know that Cobra is an issue with one of them and I always have to stop to look to see if it is Part B or Part D and clarify the issues in my mind. Cobra was what was in my mind and I apologize if I crossed Part B and Part D issues there.

Medicare Part B IRMAA's (Part B penalties in the vernacular) and retirement cash flow planning.
Needs to start 2 YEARS BEFORE TURNING 65 because of how the need for a premium adjustment is determined.

(an underlying issue in a recent thread.)

I
What is Tradition Medicare and how it works (A/B)
What is Medicare Advantage and how it works
How PDP works
How to select a Medicare Supplement.

I suggest wordsmithing those titles.

The first three aren't questions that your clients will ask, at least not in those words.

What is the difference between Medicare, Medigap, Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage?
How good are $0 premium Medicare Advantage plans?
"Do I need a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan?"
"How do I know which Medigap plan is right for me?"
What you must do to avoid Medicare penalties!
Too many confusing Medicare letters? Medicare A through M explained.

You have what's called the "curse of knowledge."

If you didn't have it, you'd be a lousy insurance agent. However, that knowledge can make you a lousy writer.

99 out of 100 prospects...
  • don't know what "traditional Medicare" is.
  • think Medicare Advantage is a type of Medicare Supplement (if they think about it at all)
  • have no clue what PDP stands for
If you have a middle schooler in your family have him or her read what you write. Reword anything he or she stumbles over or can't pronounce.

Ask him or her what parts they don't understand. Rewrite those parts.

People are busy. If they have a choice between finding a dictionary and going back to Facebook or their favorite distraction - the porn site they spend the most time on will win the battle for their attention.

All are great rewrites, but I would not expect anything less. You know this of course, but the first one in particular is too long. Google usually truncates anything longer than 60 characters. That one has 93.

You can get at least 3 different articles by parsing the title

You also know simple titles that ask questions attract eyeballs.

How does Medicare work?
How are Medicare and Medicare Advantage different?
What is the difference in Medigap and Medicare supplement? (58 characters)
Do all doctors take Medicare?
How does Medicare Part A work?
When should I sign up for Medicare?
How do I sign up for Medicare?
Can I have an Advantage plan and a supplement?
Am I required to buy a drug plan?

Topics are different than titles. ;)

I write articles based on Yoast Suggest autocomplete (meaning things people actually type in Google.)

I didn't review this entire thread, but I believe it was part of a video course drip campaign I created in December.. so.. I was asking about what T65's commonly ask agents.

The Titles you have are nice to write about, but near impossible to rank for.. Medicare articles have to be incredibly niched down to get traction as you're fighting CMS, Medicare, the states, and multiple nonprofits with huge authority... All before you get to insurance agents, like boomerbenefits.com

My most active article has been "Can Medicare Take My House?"

I thought you were writing a course that would be in an e-book or delivered by consecutive emails. I didn't realize SEO was a factor.

You can format your H2 tag to be bigger than your H1. Then you can do something like this:

<h1>Title I want the search engines to read first</h1>

<h2>Title I want people to read first</h2>

The human reader will see the H1 as an eyebrow.

I have a mostly paid strategy now that depends on email and DM. SEO isn't something I focus on today, but I used to before Penguin and Panda.

That was a long time ago. Switching the h1/h2 formatting worked then, but it might not any more.
