Just talked to a guy on the phone who said he just signed up with BCBS med supp "B" plan and he turns 65 in june....doesn't make sense.

I first told him that I too carry BCBS but he should know that all supplements are standardized, blah blah blah but I really wanted to say that his agent is probably unethical and just wanted his signature and when the June apps come out he will make him sign again.

Does this sound like what his agent is doing?

Why didn't you say that? I would have but maybe not in those exact words. Selling Med Supps is about educating them. I view it as my responsibility to educate them using factual information presented logically so they understand it.

Had you explained to him, that an agent can't do that, when that app is submitted if it is not one of the Modernized plans that the company will kick it back and not accept it you may have gotten the app. I avail myself of every opportunity to point out lies that are told to them by other agents.

I'd call him back and share that information with him. I'd be very surprised if you don't get him as a new client. The chances are good that you can also save him money over what he is going to have to pay for a Plan B.

I didn't say it because I was thinking what moonlight was saying. Maybe he was just trying to get me off his back....but Im not too sure about that. He knew it was a B plan and he knew his monthly premium. I told him that UHC has the same exact coverage for $200 less per year but he seemed disinterested

Who in the hell would buy a "B" anyway, unless you were on SS disability and that's all that was offered?

The guy could be one of those morons that thumps their chest, and proclaims "I want the best!" Maybe they assume that's Blue. Most of the time they haven't got two nickels to rub together and sign up for one trailerpark MA plans...

This is very common-

Some people don't care, they just know they got themselves a plan now and do not want to go back into comparing options.

Exactly.

I know...our job is to convince them otherwise. Sometimes you can't. Some take the approach...if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

This is exactly why I like the T65 group. Once they purchase a Med Supp, that is it! They could care less if the premium gets jacked to the roof. They are staying put even if you show them where they could save money for the same coverage.

Especially if they've had several claims.

I called one recently that's had a MoO supplement with me for a few years(since he's turned 65), that's gone up quite a bit in premium. He's had a few medical problems. He was bragging on how well they paid all of his claims. Said he was happy with it.

Fine with me.
