Taking One Car Off the Road, but Want to Put Another Car on the Road.

Hey, thanks for reading this. I'll make it quick.

I live in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. I have a 2003 Nissan 350Z and a 1990 Toyota Supra. The 350Z has been my daily driver since last April. The Supra has been "off the road" since last April. It isn't registered nor is it insured. However, it does have a passing inspection sticker.

Due to the winter weather, I want to take the 350Z "off the road" (want to stop insuring it), and I want to put the Supra "on the road" (as my new daily driver).

By the way, my 350Z has vanity plates. My Supra has no plates. Ultimately, I'd want my vanity plates swapped to my Supra until the winter passes (in which case I'd put the 350Z back "on the road").

I called my insurance company and they said it was impossible.
In order to do what I described above, I'll have to put both cars "on the road" and pay insurance on them both. Personally, I think that's crazy. I'm hoping that my insurance company is wrong.

Looking for some advice! Thanks!!

--EDIT--

Oh and if it matters, I've already paid off ALL insurance balance for this cycle. If I swap cars, I hope I won't have to re-pay my entire $2,000 balance.

To do what you want to do is impractical. You have two separate issues. One is insurance the other is licensing. As far as licensing is concerned the only way you could legally use the vanity plant is go to motor vehicle and have it transferred with whatever fees are involved. After you quit using the vehicle and winter is over you would have to pay to have it transferred back. That would seem to be impractical. My guess is something could be worked out with the insurance coverage but honestly it would not be worth it.
