I've noticed over the months that I've been a member, many of you have posted about using Thank You cards. Some even do a Thank You to those who do not buy. What do you put in these or what are the main lines you use? Thanks in advance.

"It was a pleasure to meet you both and to discuss your life insurance needs. Thank you again for your business.

Call anytime,

name
office number
cell number"

If they have a dog and was obviously part of the family I will mention meeting him, too. Also anything unusual that came up like a hobby or job or just anything, I will also mention that in the card.

I used to send card to everyone whether they bought or not. Now I pretty much only send to buyers with the occasional non buyer that seemed almost ready to commit.

Nice informative reply.

Did you ever track if you wrote any of the non buyers later or if they ever gave you a call because of the TY card? If you heard from 10 out of 1000, that would be about the same return as direct mail.

Even if they don't reply, it is still a positive force in the referrel business. That agent can turn from being another agent to one that is better than the competition. Maybe they will tell their friends. All and all, it's another gesture for them to NOT hate you!:D

Every new client gets a thank you card sent the day after I sign them up. Nothing fancy..."you've made a great decision to protect your family financially. Thank you for time and your business. Please put my number 555-555-5555 into your cell phone and do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions. Your policy will be arriving in the mail in the next few weeks...yadda yadda yadda..."

Everybody also gets a birthday card and an xmas card. I use sendoutcards so I can do all this in about 3 minutes.

I used to send thank you cards to the people that didn't buy, thinking it would improve my chances to close them in the future. I don't do that anymore. After doing it faithfully for 12 months and getting nothing back from it, I figured I could find more productive ways to use my 54 cents.

I checked out that send out cards website... They are some sort of MLM company. Any other sites that can do all the leg work for you besides them? I'd rather not be at the post office every week...

They are in fact an MLM company, but you don't have to sign up as a distributor if you have no interest in recruiting. That's what I did. You can get the cheaper, non-distributor consumer version which has identical functionality as the MLM version.

If you'd like some more info I can give you the email of the guy who signed me up.

I don't track the call backs, but I do get some. FE for me is a one appointment close. I do not call people back that don't buy. I do get 10 to 12 call backs in a year, so about once a month. I have a couple tell me it was because of the card. I would like to think it's all of them calling because of it, but I don't have any data to back that up.

I do know it helps with retention with ones that do buy. I don't track that either, but I have had referrals where the person told me they referred me because of the nice card. I have also had occasion to be back in homes that I have sent cards to and they have the card prominently displayed on a coffee table or a mantle. And not just because I was coming by. Many times they didn't know I was stopping by.

I use SOC. Whoever said you don't have to be part of the MLM is corect. I only use it as a user. I don't market for them or make any money from a downline. However, when the cards I have on file now are used up I am stopping using SOC. Their price increases over the last three years have just gotten out of hand. When I first started using SOC I could send the card for less than a dollar. That cost is almost two fifty now.

I know a guy that buys a 100 cards in bulk from the Dollar Store for about $25. He hand writes out the cards and puts a stamp on them and mails them. That's what I will go back to doing. I could mail 100 cards for about $70. That's a much better deal than paying SOC two hundred and fifty and having to take the time with them to do it.

I used to send the regular thank you cards with handwritten notes and people thought it was nice. I did that for years. It's professional and it's a step further than people expect.

About a year ago I started using Send Out Cards. I do have the recruiter package but I have recruited a total of ZERO. I don't worry about making money off of Send out Cards.

But I have to give credit to SOC that they have a fantastic system. It's MUCH more than just sending a card. You can totally customize the card. You can send it now or whenever you want. You can automatically send cards at different points in the future.

I can guarantee you I get calls from my cards. I have certain cards that have a very high response of people calling me the minute they open it.

I have to totally disagree with JD. You aren't going to get rich by saving $2 on your thank you cards.

If you are going to go to the trouble and expense of doing this...do it big. Get noticed.
