The #1 Most Insane Claim Just Hit

^ yes they left the exterior fill nozzle on the home whenever it was converted from oil. That happened way before my guy bought the home & yes...it seems like a small oversight the led to this problem being able to happen.

OMG That is insane! Isn't there a method/system/procedure or whatever where they can verify everything before they start pumping?

^You would think right? I was so blown away by this that I googled it & apparently this happens regularly.

My wife was on a jury trial for the same thing some years ago. I don't recall her saying the EPA stepped in, but the owners (based on my understanding) looked at it as a payday.

It happened late in the year and they asked for compensation because "Christmas was ruined" etc...

What a mess (cheesy pun, I know) and while I don't recall the amount, I do remember thinking they received more than I thought they should. Then again, I wasn't the one who's "stuff" smelled like it came from a trucker's repair shop...

Every app that I remember filling out for a fuel oil dealer asks this question specifically, although I've quoted maybe 5 or 6.
