The Council of Presidents

You are the party of Maddoff and Stanford. You are the party of Wall Street. You are the party of the large auto makers. You are the party of segregationists. You are the party of anti-immigrants. You are the party of the rich, the white, the landed, the gentry, and the privileged. No one wants you to rule them anymore... because you did such a bad job the last time and no one trusts you to be fair, honest, or even efficient. And people know that in your heart of hearts you don't want Obama to succeed and that in your heart of hearts you don't have America or the American people as your first interest... you have the return to power... by any means possible... as your first interest. You are not fooling anyone. I know your kind thinks the polis is basically stupid, but Lincoln didn't... and you're supposed to be the party of Lincoln (although you look more like the party of George Wallace.)

Al, I am in no means in want of anything other than the constitution allows. I don't wish to have this type of council thingy that is being proposed anymore than you (Man, I agreed with something you said. It didn't hurt as bad as I thought). I am very much against Obama's policies and hope that he will return to the center in his policies quickly.

But the things you just threw around need to be addressed.

-Madoff and Stanford. Who were the biggest recipients of donations from them? Democrats.

-The party of wall street? Again, who were the biggest recipients of contributions? Democrats.

-If we are the party of auto makers, why are we against bailing them out?

-Anti-immigrant? Nope. I love the melting pot aspect of this country. Why I am against is ILLEGAL immigration. Study after study shows the actual net LOSS that illegals have on our economy. The sum gain by lower wages for jobs is lossed by the drag on government programs.

- The party of segregationists? Wrong again. That's the democrats. MLK was a republican. People like Senator Byrd, who was a KKK grand dragon is a dem.

-The party of the rich? So does that mean the Democrats must keep people poor to be of a help?

-The reason the last 8yrs were a failure was because Bush was not a conservative. A conservative does not allow for expansion of government like he did. He does not allow people like Barney Frank and Maxine Waters ruin our banking and lending system. He does not allow liberals to shape the debate with marketing tactics and slogans, but he uses facts and truth to shine the light. Facts show that more government does not solve anything and usually hurts VERY badly.

If you doubt what I say, just look up what states are hurting budget-wise and which states are doing fine. You will find that the only states doing well are the ones that have been ran conservatively. Liberal states (like CA and NY) are the ones hurting the worst. Why? Because government cannot solve anything.

So, Al, I appreciate your passion. But you are wrong again. History and facts prove it. If we continue down the path of big government, it will be the ruin of this country.

-The reason the last 8yrs were a failure was because Bush was not a conservative. A conservative does not allow for expansion of government like he did.

Your point was well made. I agree with it. I voted for Bush... twice. He attracted me the same way Reagan did... with his doctrine of Compassionate Conservatism." I voted for a man who would use the power of government to help the truly needed, but what I got was a man (and party) that helped only the wealthy (of which I'm one... and you probably are too.)

I am obviously not the only person who felt this way because we voted you folks out by a huge landslide.

For better or worse, conservatives (pick your party) are empty suits. They have no candidate who is "attractive" enough with any credibility to attract those like me who are just to the right of the middle. (Yeah, all the right-wing whack jobs here think I'm a far-left pinko only because to them anyone not way out there on the right-wing lunatic fringe is a "commie.")

One of the problems you conservatives have is that you put most of your faith in ideology and little in the practicality of governing. Most people are not liberals or conservatives. They are moms, dads, employees, sports fans, church goers, etc. You think you can lead them by promising them "freedom" and "world power" and kicking out the immigrants, etc. You guys love ideology.

But most people want a job, they want the ability to send their kids to a good school, have the grocery store shelves filled with affordable food, be able to afford two cars (and run them), have the garbage collected, the water and power work, and live their lives is relative security from crime, terrorism, etc.

This time both Hillary and Obama offered that. Obama said "Change you can believe in." McCain said "Country First." When you are out of work or gas is $4 or your 401k is not a 200.5k or you are scared of losing your job, who the f--k cares about ideology? "Country First?" Are you kidding? Not me, that's for sure.

All I hear about on this board is how the Obama administrations policies will take the country down the path of ruin. It could be true, but wrapping yourself in the flag and saying "follow me" when you can't tell me where we are going, is hardly the alternative that attracts me to your cause.

Personally, I think you folks would do well to get behind the president and support him. Sure you can say "I have reservations" but lets give him and his plans a chance... since I don't have a better idea right now."

All you folks (especially your leader Rush Limbaugh) can do is moan, whine, bitch, and complain... and obstruct. That is NOT governing. I think there is a time and place for bitching, whining, moaning, and even obstruction... but two months into a new admin. is not it.

People (the media) are seeing you folks as simply the "Dr. No" of American politics. That gives them no comfort and the Democrats are using it to their advantage, and they have a much larger pulpit than you guys have right now.

You folks would do well to read a biography of Nixon and see how he "engineered" himself (and his party) to power after 8 years of a liberal administration. He didn't do it by trying to be divisive all the time (until he got elected with Spiro!) Same with Reagan. He is an even better example. He led by being reassuring... "Morning in America" that he could govern better than Carter (which he did.)

You folks send the message that don't care about governing. You just want power so that you can continue to reward your base. The Dems do the same thing, but they do it in such a way that more people share in the pot.

You people are portrayed by the media as the party of hate, the party of greed, the party of war, and the party of corruption. You have powerful media of your own... Fox, WSJ, all those southern papers... but in the heavily populated areas of this country, you folks can't catch a cold. Why is that? Are people in rural New Jersey all that much different than in rural Georgia? I don't think so. But what you folks don't understand is that urban and suburban people.... who are the MAJORITY of voters... have different issues... and you folks all all about corn pone and hay stacks. You preach to a rural base while this country is mostly an urban and suburban demographic.

I think conservatives like you CPAINS have a message and a story to tell. But you all do it from a zero-sum standpoint. "I'm good because Obama is bad." People are tired of confrontational politics. They are tired of "I'm a true American and Barny and Nancy are evil." They see Barny and Nancy and Obama out there trying to govern and they see the jackals like those on the conservative right, hoping they will die soon.

Your message of "Doing nothing is better than doing something" simply does not resonate, will not resonate, and never will resonate with the public. You folks are the "Do-nothing, let the market heal itself" party. "So you folks have to lose your homes and jobs and become migrant laborers, so what?"

Just like from 1932 until 1952, when you conservatives couldn't get elected dog catcher, you are going to be marginalized for the next twenty years as you were back then... when you had the same anti-New Deal and isolationist message you have now.

8 AM here. Time to work.

Thanks for the dialectic CP. I wish there were more here like you who can discuss things in a rational manner as opposed to the homophobes and xenophobes like... well you know them here. They will reply calling me names, etc. Stay tuned.

Al
