The Death of the Mini-Med.

It needs to include doctor visits, prescriptions, and all the other medical services typically covered now on an IFP plan.

I would not expect these plans to have much in the way of Rx coverage. Probably more like the stand alone Rx cards now. Nothing comprehensive.

I do see an expanded demand for the mini-med. Not sure I will go to that dance or not, but in some ways about as much agent liability as STM.

I do see an expanded market and demand for cash indemnity plans.

Last night I looked at the Assurant Health Access plan in more detail. The highest benefit option is getting there... but no prize. There are too many limitations. A carrier needs to make a plan like today's IFP but with indemnity payment. I recognize the problem of no out of pocket max and the problem of potential overutilization because HHS says there cannot be coordination of benefits. But if they can design it right it could have a great niche market.

The carriers in your state work fast. They know the commission amounts before the prices are determined. Is that the usual order of things?

Tater Peeler is the best. He always keeps an open ear to people who are "in the know". I don't say this often enough - Thanks, Charles, for all you do.
