Hey there,

Do you have any suggestions how an Agency that only writes Business Insurance can break into the world of Personal Insurance? Or would you happen to know any Auto & Home Carriers that are currently appointing or willing to appoint Agencies in Florida? (Besides Progressive)

We would like to start offering Auto and Home without having to sign up with any group such as SIAA, Smart Choice, Iriqous Group, etc.

Any information is greatly appreciated! Thanks! -Average Joe

I don't where you are so I don't know what companies you will need. If you guys are a decent size commercial agency I would assume some companies would be willing to talk to you. I would just start calling company reps and tell them you need some personal line carries for your business customers.

Universal P&C should be pretty easy.

Yeah I am sure a lot of your commercial carriers have a personal lines division, contact them and see.

Personal lines is a little different in prospecting, unless you are just looking to work your current book, u will need new marketing strategies to attract personal lines.

Hartford, Travelers, and (dunno about FL) Montgomery all have personal lines divisions. I don't know your other carriers but they probably do as well.

FL P&C Broker, I am in Hillsborough County. What Companies would you recommend to call?

I'd stay focusing on commercial..but if you must break into personal focus on the auto. Much higher commission than home markets here and you can take a sizeable amount of customers away from State Farm/Allstate and even Geico.

That sounds great. Do you recommend any carriers that I should apply for appointment with?
