So, according to CNN, Pelosi and the Dems are going to try to pass something that affects 1/6 of our economy, but isn't worthy of a vote?

Dems would be the dem leadership. There are plenty of dems who dont support the bill or Pelosi's maneuver. If dems supported the bill none of this would be necessary. They don't.

Pelosi doesnt have the votes. She can bluster and fuster all she wants but she doesn't have the votes. Note: I am not saying she will not come up with the votes but unless she does something immoral or unethical (which is quite likely) the votes are not there. With money though, all things are possible. The dem whip was bloviating away on TV earlier about how the votes will be there but he is talking bullfeathers too. The votes are not there without bribes. Note again, that I am not saying that Pelosi will not come up with them, but they are not there in the absence of doing something unethical.

All drama aside, the dems are on the verge of doing probably one of the dirtiest moves in Congressional history. That is not a drama statement. That is a fact. She is asking other dems to get in the bus and go off a cliff for her and Obama. Not surprisingly, it is not going well. This will be bloody and dirty.

On the plus side, if the votes aren't there maybe Obama will just set up another meeting with the Republicans and ask them if they want to come over again and help him to pass the bill that no one wants. Most likely they will say yes. It worked out so well last time. Maybe we can get Anthem to raise the rates in a few more states while they are doing it.

She and Obama are in the Post-American era where votes are considered to be something that keeps us from reaching our potential as a people.

I am sure that the Framers would be warm and fuzzy all over about this latest plan to pass legislation impacting one sixth of the economy without the necessity of a formal vote out of Congress. Might be helpful if the dems would refer to the Constitution on some of this. It is true that there are probably some procedures where you can skip over the vote if it is implied, such as where the speaker rattles off a call for unanimous consent or states "without objection." but in areas that are contested, that dog don't hunt. The Constitution requires bills to pass Congress and the Senate and to be signed by the President.

Was listening to Obama about ten minures ago bloviating away and saying that they are going to pass the bill because "we both want the same thing but it is just the politics getting in the way." What a crock. First of all, it is not "both". It is a threesome because the dems, the republicans, and Obama are not in agreement, it is not just a republican opposition thing. Second of all, he, as discussed above, is implying that since we all know what is best we can just skip over the voting part. Post- American Commie.

I am tellin ya, this is serious stuff at hand. This is not just a matter of picking on poor Barry. These clowns are in charge and are seriously attempting to rule without votes being cast by the people's representatives. The republicans should be working this as a constitutional issue if they try to run with it. At what point does my representative vote on this under their plan. If my representative does not vote then who is representing me in Congress. Post-American.

Kind of hard to tally votes when they have moved over to a process that does not require votes, Constitution aside.

Well, I may make a 6-figure income, but only 10% of it comes from individual health insurance. I am against this current bill due to the cost of it and because of who will actually pay for it. It won't likely have a meaningful impact on my income other than the additional taxes. It also adds a new entitlement program that will be used to manipulate votes. We are headed towards your socialist utopia Al.

What does it matter? According to all you 6-figure neo-conservative health insurance agents out there you are going to take back the Congress in November anyway... so you can simply repeal the damn thing.

So what is the big deal?

Come on guys. This is NOT about democracy or government or even a better health system. This is all about you keeping your 6-figure commissions selling bad plans for greedy insurance companies. This is all about YOU and your bank account... not about anything else.

My bet is that if so-called health reform mandated that ONLY licensed agents can provide health insurance (similar to how only licensed reps can sell stocks/bonds) and that there would be no direct sales allowed AND it mandated that you guys are to get 25% commission... you greed-infested insurance maggots would be all over this thing.
