Getting back into the L&H business after some time away. Mostly call businesses but want to consider some dials in the residential market.

Do you guys scrub numbers before you dial? I work at home not at an agency.

How big is that boogeyman?

Pre-newbie (not even born yet) question:
What do you mean by scrubbing numbers?

Comparing the telephone numbers of residential addresses against the DNC (Do Not Call List). Those numbers on the list are a no-no! And, yes, rphillips, it is a BIG thing. failing to comply can cause mucho problems and be costly.:policeman:

There's a fine for non-complience. Your actually supposed to scrub numbers even if it is one given to you as a referall. Businesses of course are fair play. Phoning residential has become much more difficult. Caller ID on their TV now, they don't even have to move the bowl of potato chips and get up to screen their calls anymore.

First, it's probably a great way for you to get business without spending a bunch of money on leads, especially while you're learning the business. Consider that it's a $10,000 fine per call and that should give you an idea of how serious it is. If you buy your data pre-scrubbed that'll give you 30 days and you can scrub against a handful of area codes for free, after that I believe it's $60/area code. Small price to pay to avoid a nasty fine.

Do cell phone numbers get the same protection as residential numbers with the DNC list??

What about business numbers? Can businesses put their number on the list too?

THANKS!

YES, with the ability to port numbers you can not tell if it is a residential number, cell phone, or land line. When you enter your number on a DNC list it does not ask if it is a cell or residential number. Check you state laws also, many states have a DNC list separate from the fed list and are easy money for the states to pursue if you call a number on the their list.
