About AmaboCare

AmaboCare is an independent health insurance information provider and research firm. Our team consists of experts on the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare) as well as innovative web developers. Our goals is to give people the means to effectively search and compare Obamacare health insurance plans offered on State exchanges and healthcare.gov.

Choosing a health insurance plan is typically a confusing and difficult decision, and an overall unenjoyable experience. AmaboCare hopes to change that. We provide people with tools to understand their Obamacare health insurance options so that they can choose the best plan that meets their needs.

No CSR plans. Otherwise, quite interesting.

Doesn't take into account tobacco either. Our Illinois colored company levies a 20% surcharge, unless it's religious-ceremonial, or non-tobacco products like weed, hashish, crack, etc..

AmaboCare.com does have a nice clean layout though. Very modern.

Healthcare.gov is not the only website to make this mistake. The calculator at Independence Blue Cross' site also used the wrong guidelines until a reporter asked about them this week. A spokeswoman said its vendor had mistakenly included marketplace responses when it updated the tool with 2014 poverty guidelines for Medicaid.

And HealthSherpa.com, a popular site that offers detailed information akin to the government site, discovered it was using the wrong year last week, a cofounder said.

The Kaiser Family Foundation's calculator has been correct all along.

We noticed some traffic coming from this thread and thought we would weigh in.

The new FPL levels are for Medicaid determinations only. For the purpose of calculating and determining eligibility for QHP subsidies and CSR, the 2013 FPL levels are used.

Our Subsidy Calculator should be accurate

See: Families USA piece (forum won't let me post links. Google "Federal Poverty Level" and click first Families USA link)

So, can a consumer apply online through your site?
Are you an agent/agency selling plans? Selling leads to us agents?

Is Amabo.......Obama spelled backwards? Is that how you came up with the name?

Consumers cannot apply through AmaboCare.com and we do not have a revenue model at this time. Other sites out there have become web-brokers, but we have not chosen this path. AmaboCare is purely an information source that helps people compare Obamacare plans and understand their options.

Yes Amabo is Obama spelled backwards and yes that is how we came up with the name. It was difficult to find a good domain name and we though Amabo was somewhat catchy and may be easy to remember. I am open to re-branding though. There are no political motives behind the name.
