Top "3" Auto Insurance Companies in Southern Cal You'd Go With?

I know there are a lot of knowledgeable agents and members of this forum so I thought I'd ask who YOU would use in the Southern California area for Auto Insurance.

What I mean is who YOU would have no questions getting a policy with and whwere you'd sleep well at night knowing you're insured with an extremely reputable company in the event of a serious car accident, etc.

Cost of the policy shouldn't be included in the answer....just reputability and peace of mind. I look forward to hearing the general consensus if there is one for a specific company or two. Thanks!

No company in the country settles as many claims as State Farm. Last time I checked it was over 30,000 a day, yet we are rated #1 in claims satisfaction. So we have the most claims, and the least complaints. That is a formula of success for me. From a personal experience, one time a friend totaled my car, and State Farm gave me a check within 2 days for $3,000 more than I paid for the car 6 months earlier! They have my business for life!

The DOI site has a list of the number and percents of justified consumer claims for the past 3 years at Automobile Composite.

The lowest priced carrier I could find is Wawanesa. Between their 2 companies they wrote over 450,000 policies with exactly 3 complaints in the past 3 years. As a percentage of policies, there is no carrier that comes close to their record.

They only write direct and I've been saving money with them for 3 years. They even wrote a separate policy for my 22 year old son at 50% of his premium with old company. I also like the one year policy - not six months.

I sleep just fine with them and even better knowing that nobody came close to their rates.

Thanks for the replies here, it's much appreciated. I read some negative things on State Farm with totaled vehicles and a class action suit in California against them for the values they were giving with their "software" on totaled vehicles. I am "steering" clear from them because of this.

@ greensky, this is interesting, because I asked the finance manager at the car dealership who he recommended and he said the SAME THING! When he said the name I was like WA-WA--WHAAA?? lol...now you are saying it and if that claim statistic is true, that is STAGGERING. I don't think I could leave Geico in the immediate (as they really, really took care of me recently) but I am gonna check out wawanesa and get a quote regardless...thank you...just from what you wrote and what this finance mgr. told me....it seems like they would be the ones to go with and sleep WELL and night. Thanks!

Before everybody runs to check out their rates, note that Wawanesa Insurance offers automobile and residential insurance to residents of California, and automobile insurance to residents of Oregon, here in the U.S. Big company in Canada, though!

State Farm and Farmers, both because from personal experience - they pay out fast and more than fairly.

My boyfriends sister got her car broken into, the guy working on it quoted the State Farm adjuster $750 to replace the stolen radio, fix antenna, etc and the adjuster looked at him and said "Christmas came early for you man" and cut the shop a check for $950 just in case.

My client smashed his car into a guard rail a couple weeks ago. Farmers paid him within 7 days and about $4000 more than KBB.

The 3rd... Not so sure. I had Wawanesa before - and they pay out claims well too... The only thing I dont like too much is that they only cover permissive users for state minimum...

I was with Allstate for 10 years and was very happy with their service over the years, only had to file a claim once when some punk hit my RX 7 and took off.My premium gradually increased then a friend from church recommended Wawanesa,I have been covered with them the last 3 years and I saved at least 1000 annually on premium with the same high end limits.I have recommended a few peeps since then too bad they dont kick out referral fees lol. :goofy:
