Transferring Policy from Van to Car

Hi i am in the process of making a claim on my van insurance as it was set on fire on my driveway, police involved and so on, my question is once i have been payed out will i be able to transfer my policy from my van to a car ?

I didn't know policies could be transferred? I figure you cancel the van coverage and receive a refund of any unearned premium which is probably figured in the settlement if the van is totaled. You simply then take out new coverage on a different vehicle.

Depends on the company. State farm and farm bureau, for example, have seperate policies for each vehicle.

Progressive, Safeco, and every standard carrier that I have would allow you to replace your vehicles without taking out a new policy.
