In your experience, have the carriers always paid you when you you have a client on Mapd for the first time coming from a medsup? I have heard sometimes even though Cms says it is a first to mapd they still don't pay the true-up

Yes, always. But check the commission schedule from the carrier. They are allowed to pay less than FMV

They must pay the 2x comp if the client is new to Advantage, but most companies prorate that level when someone had a PDP. In those cases, the earlier in the year they join, the better for your pocketbook as an agent.
That makes sense. I wrote 2 during Aep that were switching to maps for first time from supplement

This is the correct answer . Anytime I run into someone with Medicare and a pdp card in Oct- Dec I almost do a 1-1 effective date to get full true up . If not you make peanuts

@LydiaB don't do what DonP does. thats totally unethical.

To leave your customer without the proper insurance for a few months so you can get a bigger commission is something worth of a Bankers Life & Casualty agent.

Also, most carriers these days don't actually pro-rate the commission. I have written literally hundreds of policies over the years with an effective date in the second half of the calendar year and got FMV. I love writing policies effective December 1, but I get FMV, then renewals start a month later!

You'r a damm joke punk ass . They've had this coverage for yrs . 99% of people with Medicare only and a pdp card are low income and never pay that 20% or aren't charged it . Anyone You catch them at yr end you have to wait for aep and a 1/1 effective date anyway .And to boot your a liar and dishonest as hell. There's not one carrier I've personally seen that is a True up of $613 on a person you sign up in lets say 11/1 that has original Medicare and a pdp card .The big carriers United ,Humana , Aetna or Anthem sure as hell don't true up. Your just a sorry ass has been agent.

Literally every carrier you just mentioned pays FMV on a 11/1 effective date. I have commission statements that can prove it, and there are other agents on here that can testify the same thing. Maybe its just a Florida thing, but I don't think it is.

But that doesn't justify your unethical actions.

I can't believe you are actually admitting on a public forum that you push effective dates back on customers for monetary gain. That is the most unethical thing I have seen on this website. Agents like you give our industry a bad name. A truly unethical hack!

Your telling me those carriers pay true up on an 11/1 effective date if the client has original Medicare already and a pdp card already?Tons of agents on here have already said what I'm saying its prorated commissions . I write in 6 states and all those states that's a no go. You're nothing but a jealous loser. A washed up agent that loves to argue as you have nothing better to do.

new to MA is new to MA.
most carriers do not pro-rate the full commission.

The first half is, but the True Up adds up to FMV. You can even download the commission schedules on any agent website. Humana's is right there on the main page (if you are actually contracted with any of these companies. I'm starting to think you are a total fraud.). Page 9 and 10 of the PPP shows how much you make depending on the month the policy is sold in.

And guess what, it adds up to the CMS allowable FMV. $626
