UHC Drops Doctors Off Medadvantage

Interesting... A friend of mine that works for the hospital association here asked me about UHC pulling out of the market here. They are not, I assume this is what she was talking about.

They are pulling out of several markets beside's hospital's kicking them out in Tampa, beside's with all the savings the CEO can give himself another 10 mil.

Because of government cuts to medicare advantage payments UHC has had to reduce it's provider networks.
Nice spin.

Since Medicare Advantage can't be underwritten on the front end, this is a back door move by UHC to rid themselves of bigger claims (more profitability) going forward. When the physician provider cuts are analyzed, you'll find the majority of them are specialists - where the bigger claims live.

I thought that instead of cutting MA plans this year (which helped with the lie that Obamacrap was revenue neutral), the plans actually received an increase.

Since I heard this from an agent in Tampa, it may not be correct.

They were suppose to receive 3% increase and I believe they did.

Not around here it was about equal they cut several groups with pcp's. In the panhandle around 109 physician's were cut.

UHC is just using ACA as an excuse to get out of the MAPD market in Florida, it's possible they decided that many of the people on PPO plans would migrate to Medicare Supplements that are inherently more profitable for them.
