UM Umbrella

What companies offer an umbrella policy that would/could apply to uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage?

I currently have a PLUP but there is no option for me to add any kind of endorsement for it to apply to UM. My agent has never even heard of an umbrella for UM. But I spoke with my attorney last week who mentioned he had both a (large) PLUP and a (smaller) UM umbrella. I didn't get a chance to ask who he has them through. It appears that after speaking with my agent, the only way for me to get $1M in UM coverage, is to bring the liability on that car up to M/M. Right now it's just the minimum for me to get the PLUP. I'd like to carry more than 250/500 UM but I'm not really interested in paying the extra premium to raise my liability when I feel I have adequate coverage.

If you feel you have adequate coverage then this post makes no sense. The purpose of an umbrella is to increase your coverage.

If you still need help. I work with about 10 different companies. The carriers that I work with will require your auto insurance as well.

I just joined this group and just saw this thread. Nationwide Insurance is the only company I know that will extend UM/UIM limits as an optional endorsement to the Umbrella policies. You do have to have all underlying coverage with them as well. Hope this helps

I would love to but I am not licensed in your state. Just call a local Independent agent who can sell that caompany and just buy one
