UM Umbrella

Most of my independent markets offer optional um coverage on their umbrella. What state are you in?

I would love to but I am not licensed in your state. Just call a local Independent agent who can sell that caompany and just buy one

I haven't found an independent in my area that has ever heard of a UM umbrella let alone could quote me one. I tried 3 in my city and gave up. I since raised my liability on my truck to 500/500/100 so I could raise my UM to 500/500. I couldn't afford to raise both liability and UM to $1M.


I also contacted personalumbrella.com and they transferred me to someone that was supposed to get back with me that would basically refer me to a local agent that could sell me one. I have to leave a message and the guy never called me back.

They're all going to require the underlying auto policy be with them though... At least that's the way they work in WA. There is a company that does stand alone umbrella with UIM but for the life of me I can't think of the name... I've very rarely had to do that as usually the person has their underlying policies with the same company.
