Underwriting

Got one that I hope I get Monday written in I think November. Went from around $4,600.00 to $6,700.00 and am thrilled. It had gone to around $11,000.00. Preferred to T2 to Std. What a roller coaster this business can be.

Most of the time (for me) the UW time hinges on how quickly the client gets the medical done. I have a case right now that the client is meeting the examiner next week, app has been in for 4 weeks already, so 5 weeks until exam.

I would say 90% of my cases are issued in 4-5 weeks, only because on those cases my client has been quick on getting the medical done. I have some cases that take close to 2 mos, but also had quite a few done in 3weeks when the client does their part early. I really try and push them to get the medical done the first week. Doesn't always work.

Mine tend to be APS delays. Some of the Kaisers are really slow. Many times I do not send the app till I have my copies of the exam and labslip.

That was the problem with the one I just got done. The lady took her exam within a week of application.

getting the APS was the problem. The doctor's office kept saying they had sent the records. The company said they didn't get them.

Yeah, some private doctor offices can be a pain and flat lie about getting the request. They sure cash the checks quick.

I will sometimes call the doctor office and get all the requirements including any prepayment amounts and send those in with the app.

Our local examiner that worked for Exam One and other companies just died on Thurs. She was great at getting to the applicants quickly.

I found out she dies because she was also a client. Her son called me Friday to start the claims process.

Yes, I've had some delays here too. My longest case was a deal where the Dr. office just would not comply, and kept giving the run around. Seems like it would just be easier to do it.
