How is united health one vs Blue cross/Blue shield of AZ.

UnitedHealth one does not offer an urgent care flat fee like Blue of AZ.

Any experience with both would help:idea:

Give me a shout if you want to talk further (928 252 2493). I now sell BCBS more often for these reasons:

1. Their HSA plans are cheaper (that's what I sell mostly). Plans are per person deductibles vs family deductibles on HSA plans. But BCBS copay plans are more expensive than UHC
2. BCBS doesn't rider/exclude pre-ex with CCC but do rate up. If you need a rider vs a rate up, then UHC may be better.
3. UHC has a 6 month waiting period for reproductive organs. It's tough to write females with them for this reason
4. BCBS has bigger network (but not by much)
5. Rate increases are lower than UHC, but that won't matter much selling NON GF plans
6. UHC's network discounts though are better than BCBS. I pay $55 for doctor visits on my UHC HSA plan
7. BCBS will participate in AZ exchange, UHC is being picky about what states they play in, although I believe AZ will be one of them.
8. BCBS doesn't require first month payment, bill for first month is an option.
9. BCBS is only in AZ, so they tend to service their clients better in my opinion. They got nowhere else to go.

And more importantly, Blue is my favorite color

I sell very little UHC One, but quite a bit of BCBSAZ. I have some of the same reasons as YAgents in the comparison. UHC One quotes good street rates, but they rate-up, rider and decline a lot. Their renewal rate increases tend to be hefty, but BCBSAZ usually stays in single digits. For a preferred risk, UHC One usually has the lowest price.

I will say that UHC One's service tends to be pretty quick, though!

UHC has been an incredible group insurer, and they do a lot in the Med Supp market. There are lots of things to love about UHC. But for individual/family coverage, I worry about their history. UHC One is the new name for the Golden Rule Product. Golden Rule was a big player in the AZ market about 20 years ago, then they pulled out of IFP in the state. They came back in the last 10 years or so, then sold to UHC. Also UHC had an individual product about 10-15 years ago, and they withdrew from IFP in the state, too. UHC bought PacifiCare/FHP, and American Medical Security, and they also withdrew. Blue Cross has longevity. That may not matter much by October 2013, but usually a history of longevity in a market is a big deal to agents.

How do the AZ Blues pay Indy? All 5 of the Blues in Pa pay per enrolled per month. Just wondering

They still pay by percentage, and it is graded according to the broker's volume of business on the books. It was roughly cut about 30% from pre-PPACA days.

On their group business, they pay per member per month, and member means per employee instead of per head.
 
I like the urgent care flat fee of $60 that blue has. To bad UHO does not offer that.:no::swoon:
 
Quite often the allowable rate at an urgent care is very close to the copay anyway. I'd rather have it apply to deductible and co-insurance than pay a copay!
