United Healthcare terminates contract with Houston Methodist; 100,000 plan members affected

One of our local hospitals sends out letters at least once a year that they are ending their contract with one or more of the major insurance carriers in the area. Year before last was Cigna, last year was UHC. Both were a bluffing tactic by the hospital to get more money from the carrier. Both times, had people in a panic.

Houston Methodist Moving Towards Being In-network for UnitedHealthcare Members

Houston Methodist and UnitedHealthcare have been engaged in daily discussions and have made significant progress toward reaching a new, multi-year agreement. Through those discussions, we have mutually agreed that Houston Methodist’s employed physicians will remain in UnitedHealthcare’s network, ensuring members can continue to receive care from their physicians.

We are working hard to finalize a contract that would restore network access to Houston Methodist’s hospitals for UnitedHealthcare members and hope to be ready to announce a final contract very soon. When finalized, UnitedHealthcare will mail letters to members notifying them of the agreement.
