A newly enrolled member in UHCs Medicare advantage plan got notification about a data breach in February 2024. Since she just enrolled last week and will not start her new plan till 1/1/2025, does she need to be concerned?

i'm numb to data breaches at this point. they happen almost on a daily basis at this point.
Chances are her personal info was already leaked in one of the 40 other data breaches that happened this year.

Just advice her to freeze her credit, and/or get some credit monitoring service.

No need to be concerned... the breech was before they had her info...

Please note, and do not dismiss as irrelevant, somarco's comment above about the free credit monitoring.

The letter will tell how to apply for it.

In the last three years or so my records have been involved in at least 4 data breaches. I have taken all but one of the free monitoring options. some are dropping off now.

You get an email each month telling you if there are any changes you need to check up on.

Data breach happened 2/2024. Member enrolled 8 months later. Does she need to be concerned about a breach that occurred 8 months before UHC even knew who she was?

Uhmmm...
