Using Public Speaking to Sell

I'm trying to think of ways that I could eventually get in front of crowds and offer something of value that would eventually help increase sales. Public speaking is something Ive always enjoyed and would much rather prefer talking to a group of people than on an individual basis. Plus I think it'd be easier to persuade a group of people. Anybody currently doing this or have done this in the past.

What are some of the subjects you cover, do you offer anything else? I could see this working out really well for a L&H agent especially if they offer other financial services, but what about a P&C agent? Im thinking maybe just a very brief but informal speech on personal lines or maybe something for small business owners. I think this is something anybody can do as long as they learn a lot about a little and then go out to share it with people.

I'd really like to do this but Im not sure where to start, any advice?

I'm thinking of doing this as an education series at a local chamber of commerce. Teaching businesses insurance 101 and what to look for in a general sense.

Not sure what part of California youre in but I'd check it out just to learn for myself. Im in the Bay Area btw.

I'm going to do a big public event on there are 12 things you should never buy again, by using coupons. Ex Shaving ravors and tooth paste.

I will use the church to do this and invite people from facebook, maybe do a $15 ad in paper and couple other cheap things.

I know some girls that are experts on couponing and they will do it for me. Right in the middle, before the break I will get up and speak. Say something like, I know times are tough on everyone and using coupons really helps. I will then offer my services for free. Ex Free living will, credit report, tons of things that I do. I will tell them if their love ones does not come home this afternoon, there will never be enough coupons to maintain their lifestyles.

I dont want to write a long book on this, just give you some food for thought.

Find something that people are really into and make yourself a part of it.

Like Mark's idea...speak on Benefits...Benefits...WIIFM

i'd choose subjects that arouse curiosity....

How to avoid common pitfalls of Whole Life Insurance...

The 3 best ways to avoid estate taxes...

How to kill someone and get away with it....or did oj already cover that?
