Using the Cloud for Document Imaging/Management

So we have a family owned agency with lots of clients. One of my goals is to get us on a document imaging system so that we can go paperless and be able to access client information on the road. One of our barriers is the cost. The other barrier is that the older generation doesn't want to learn anything new :)

A suggestion was made that perhaps using a Cloud-based system would be a reasonably priced option that could at least kick us off.

Any thoughts or ideas?

I think I should have read the Dropbox thread before I posted :)

Look closer.
Dropbox is online file storage, and will sync files across multiple computers.

Carbonite is an online backup system.

Dropbox makes a lousy backup system, since if I delete a file on one computer accidently, it deletes it on all of the computers by syncing the change. Not exactly what you want for a backup system!!!!

Thanks djs...I currently have Carbonite now and was hoping to be continue to use it as a backup system and possibly, a way to access client files on the road. A friend suggested Dropbox for a way to access client files on the road. In your opinion, can either of these systems function as a way to access client files on the road?

You can certainly access Dropbox on the road, if you have the folder on your computer (as opposed to accessing via the internet). Dropbox will automatically refresh the document changes as the computer is operating, so you'll have the latest copies within a few minutes of having an internet connection. Hope that helps!
