There is a wholesaler out there touting the profitable opportunities available helping eligible Veterans obtain a little known government benefit of almost $ 24 k a year. The benefit is made available by placing most of the veterans existing funds into annuities, sheltered within irrevocable trusts.

Does anyone know about this and what the "dark side" of this transaction may entail?

As Dave's link to the VA website indicates you can accomplish the application directly with the VA and they do have counselors available at the VA offices to assist the applicant. I don't see any need for an agent/broker.
