Vets Please Tell Me

CCP stands for Coordinated Care Plan. This is used by some carriers to describe their HMO and PPO plans. I know Coventry uses this terminology.

Prescription Drug Plan.

I'm not sure what CCP means either?

GreenSky...I called MoO today and talked to an underwriter and asked her what an agent is suppose to do if you write someone a med-supp and they don't have their Medicare # yet.

She told me that you can leave that part blank and MoO will call them at a future time to find out what their actual Medicare # is.

I told her what I had previously done and she said that's okay and will not cause any problems as long as what's listed is correct. If it's not correct the client needs to call in with the correct Medicare # or else it would mess up MoO paying claims.

Apparently I've been correct in every case(so far). I've haven't written that many in that situation. What I will do is call each person in that situation and confirm what I listed is correct.

An easier way to be reasonably certain of their Medicare Claim Number is to ask them if they will be getting SS benefits based on their employment or their spouse's. Or, ask them if they have worked a total of 40 calendar quarters and paid SS during that time.

If they answer yes then you are going to be pretty safe using their SS number followed by the letter A for their Medicare Claim Number. That is how I find out when I write someone who has not received their card yet.

Exactly. I had that situation come up again today. Wrote a lady who will be on Medicare in April 2010 and wrote her husband, who is 69, a MoO supp too.

He explained to me she is drawing off her own SS, starting at age 62.

Thanks..........
