Weird Lic. Requirements in Fla. ?

I just got off the phone with the School that teaches the PC 220 Lic and they also have what is called a 440 lic (that only allows you to answer the phone---weird).

The 440 requires 100 hrs of class room study...and the 220 is 200 hrs. Education is the same material (some are excluded in the 400 class) but the class time is same (6 weeks, 9-5pm).

Any other states have this requirement?

Seems like a lot of hours to just answer the phone....?

FL is very strict on licensing.

The 200 hrs helped me so much.. I could not imagine just studying on my own and taking the FL state test.

Would not have passed.

You might want to run from that "school" as fast as you can - they gave you really bad info! You can do a lot more with a 4-40 than "answer the phone".

"A salaried employee of the general lines (property and casualty) agent or agency that may transact automobile, water craft, home, motorcycle, and pet insurance under the supervision of a licensed and appointed general lines agent."

Great response moonlight!! I can't believe a school that teaches insurance to upcoming talent would advise a 4-40 is a licensed secretary. I know many 4-40 producers that make more money than the agent as they carry no expenses. They have a salary based on experience. A 4-40 cannot earn a commission and must work under a 2-20 superior as stated above. However you can accomplish a lot. If I was to obtain licensing all over again I would still go with the 2-20 as it gives you much more freedom, the ability to earn commission and eventually open your own Agency.

Thanks guys....i will check into another school.

BTW. i got that info from Gold Coast School.

Can anyone recommend another school in Fla?
