I wanted to share a small story. A few years back when SF had the flood gates open...the Agents in South Florida were king. No one was writing close to the amount of PL business per capita than the agents down in S. Fl. Agents within 10miles radius of each other were putting on 200-300 personal auto policies a month. It's tough to fathom what that represents if you've never been in PL market or capacity. All around the country if you did 80+ vehicles a month you were doing leaps and bounds better than everywhere else. In S. Florida you had 5-7 agents doing the numbers i listed above and a couple others in the 100+ range. You could say times were good, but you could also say these agents understood how to market, to their market to bring in that business....and to top it off there was plenty of healthy friendly competition and comradere to make it a good time.
A small group of agents in the border/valley of Texas got together and on their own dime coordinated a week visit down to South Florida to pick the brains of these agents and what the heck where they doing to be this successful. How could they extract what was working in S. Florida and duplicate it in their market.
Needless to say it worked and they replicated/duplicated it to perfection in their market, and due to certain market conditions in S. Florida...currently nobody writes business like the agents in the valley of the state of Texas...Being from S. Florida I know alot of the agents these Texas agents went to go visit as well as having opened in Texas I went down and visited with these agents in Texas and they all credit their success to firstly that visit and secondly executing it.
This point is pretty pointless but I just wanted to share that story...I'm getting ready to open, and damn I'm hungry for success. I want to kick ass and take names. I'm willing to do whatever it takes (legally) to make it happen.
I have this forum to thank for alot of the knowledge that I would not have had the courage to go independant if it were'nt for all those seasoned guys that have shared valuable feedback to help me get started.
BTW Bertolino...one day I plan, on my own dime flying out to Sacramento (if you'll have me) so I can shadow you for a few days.
Share a story if you have something similar...what was your A-HA moment that said...from this moment forward, I'm not stopping until I reach my goal.
