What is this guy offering exactly? I'm not interested because I'm not licensed yet, but I'm trying to understand exactly what he is offering and why?

For example, can't independent agents just go directly to a carrier and represent their product ? Why would anyone want to do what he's saying in his post vs. going directly to a carrier themselves?

It looks like he is offering leads and training which the carriers usually do not offer.

Many Medicare insurance companies will require you to go through a GA so you have someone to go to with your questions and requests. Some will contract direct. Sometimes contracting direct will get you LESS commission than through a GA.

It IS a very confusing system. A key thing is to get an agreement of an unconditional release from your GA in writing and you have no worries.

What is a GA ? Can you give me some company names of GA's as an example ? What is an unconditional release ?

When you sell through a GA is the customer i.e. the book, yours ?

I know, a million questions.

Everybody and his brother is a GA, IMO, FMO these days.

Depends what you want. If an agent wants to sell final expense insurance, they contract through someone like me. I can give them bigger contracts than the company will go direct with them and help them learn from my experience.

If you want health insurance there are other guys on the forum that specialize with that.

Or you can go with the huge FMOs that have tons of products under one roof (usually at lesser contracts.) When you call them, you will often have several layers of people who don't know anything that you will talk to BEFORE you get to someone that has ever sold anything.

It just really depends on who you feel can help you and what kind of products you want.

So in the case that you are describing, where someone goes through you. Here are a few questions:

1. Does that mean that you've contracted directly with a carrier, and because you send them so much business you get a "discount" and that is why you can offer a better contract than the provider themselves?

2. Who owns the customer in a situation where you go through a GA?

3. As a GA, do you provide insights and training/help for people that want to sell through you to help promote more sales ? i.e. do you coach and mentor if someone has questions each week as they are pounding the pavement ?

Each GA is different and has different levels of support.

Most companies will only give you street level contracts if you go to them directly. Some won't contract directly at all with you.

I can give you better than street AND help you get through the contracting process and guide you as to how to get going.

Then as you get started and have questions that you didn't even know you had, I can help you with that. It's like a mentor relationship where I have a vested interest in you success.

Once you are "proven" I have some carriers that may accept you into their lead program where you are provided free or very low cost leads at a lessor contract level OR you can always buy your own leads at the higher contract levels.

I try to stick to face to face final expense and cross sells with Medicare, funeral trusts and LTC as that is where I have been very successful. I am no expert on health, term life, or phone room sales.

Many GA's want to be all things to all people and want to sign you up an any product. I only want people that I can actually help. It's not a huge part of my income. I just do it to keep the top contract levels.

All your contracts are with the carriers with me in the middle simply getting an over ride. You are paid direct and you own all your business and your renewals.
