When Do You Give Up on a Lead?

Someone asked me today when do you give up on a lead.


One of three things will happen. They either Apply, Disqualify, or threaten to hunt you down. That is when I give up on a lead.
 
Good question Mark. Do you ever feel that you reach a point of diminishing returns?

I guess it depends on what you are doing to stay in front of the customer. If it is daily phone call then probably so right? If it is a monthly newsletter than probably not?
 
After they die.

When selling Med Supps their situation is constantly changing. The guy who makes disparaging comments about my heritage today just might send a cab for me six months from now.
 
It depends on your own demeanour and market. There are too many people out there and I have a unique enough story to tell that I'm not playing bounty hunter for any prospect.

Sid Walker (I think) used to say "timing may change, but chemistry probably won't"
 
When calling through a list you are going to find some people who do not want to be called so when they ask to be taken off your list and to never call them again those are ones you definitely want to give up on.
 
I had a very successful agent tell me to never give up on a lead only if they buy, die or tell you to go to hell!!!!!
