Where Have You Left Cards?

I've been visiting this forum for as long as I've been an agent, which is about 8mo. I've used a TON of info from this site.

So with all the combined years of experience on here, I'm curious: Where are some of the more unique places or creative ways you've distributed your business cards??

Someone here tapes the business card to a water bottle and hands them out at the local high school track as old farts jog around.
That's pretty creative right there.

I prefer to collect cards....

I am with Norwayguy. I think collecting cards and follow up is more important than distributing cards. Rick at Topgunproducers preaches that religiously.

The better question to ask yourself is how many times people have used your card to call you to buy insurance, if it was just out of the blue.

Probably almost none.

Business cards have a purpose, but they go with a conversation.

I always put my card out on those cork boards that hang in gas stations and places around the lake that have all the community announcements.

About a month ago I put one on a new gas station in a town about 20 miles away.

Last week I happened to be in the gas station and went over to the cork board to see if the card was still there.

Another local agent had put his card over mine. There was about half the board empty, but he still chose to cover mine up with his.

What a d-bag.

I would have just taken yours and reused the pin for my business card and expected my card to then be taken by another agent as few people look at those boards and say Hey I need to call this insurance agent.

Norwayguy is just full of useful information. So far: ask prospects for their cards and take down other agents' cards bc they're useless. Gotcha. What else you got?

You want results you would have better luck with a flyer with a call to action most business cards just provide basic contact info and do nothing to get someone to call...I can guarantee you the most results you will get from leaving your card on a board like that is other insurance agents will notice it...I know I certainly notice them. When I am at those boards I am grabbing cards to call people to introduce myself, and discarding other agents cards.

I reason I ask for a prospects business card over handing out mine is I know where my card will end up it will either immediatly hit the trash or be used to pick the prospects teeth first. When I get thier card and most of the time I get it from one of thier workers when I stop in unannounced I call them and tell them I stopped into thier business to introduce myself the other day and missed them and would like an opportunity to show them the work I do.

Instead of leaving your business card see if you can get a flyer with say our lowest introductory rates and show some rates (must be carrier approved) included contact info and one of those scanable bar codes so the phone number or website is automatically loaded into thier phone.

Great idea! Many of these cards are from small business owners. Almost all of them need life, health, auto, and liability insurance.
