Which is most cost-effective, Dental Insurance or Dental Discount Program?

Lost Dollar--
In my county you get dental benefits are checkup and cleaning. DDS are not nearby. To get treatment you have to buy a rider. Yet they are sold as "medical plans with HDV benefits." Alas, the extra benefits of MA become the driving force for seniors when selecting their path or plan for Medicare. IMO
I live in an urban area with a lot of dentists around.

My experience with dental insurance in an environment with a lot of providers is not going to match up well with a more rural environment which it sounds like you are describing.

Oooooh. Thanks for your thoughts and expertise.
Too many moving variables. This is why want to help but am reluctant to take this on. And don't know if my audience even wants to work this hard.
These folks must have felt they don't need or can't afford or can't find or don't know how to find insurance help for dental treatment...until it is so bad it becomes insurmountable.

I hate selling dental but I get asked so much.Wellabe's above age 65 is pretty good . After hearing so many people like physician mutual's plan being good I picked it up . $56 for there premium plan . 2 free cleanings , they cover 70% for basic and major and no yearly maximum .No $50 deductible and they have one if the biggest networks in Ameritas . You can go out of network to . What's wrong with this plan ?

They've improved it since the last time I looked at it.

What's the commission/renewals?

Honestly I don't know exactly . I think it's 25/5 . I know you liked Manhattan . I just got contracted for hospital . I remember when you said they paid 55% on dental and that mga came after you or something . How's there dental ?

They have 2 plans. A DVH with $100 annual deductible pays 60% 1st year, 70% 2nd year and 80% 3rd year on. It has a pool of money up to $5,000 per year to use on dental, vision (you can get multiple pairs of glasses) and hearing. They have the Careington network, but I don't mention that. No network needed. I've seen very few claims where they didn't approve the full amount and they pay quickly. 12 month wait on Major and Hearing Aids, 6 month on glasses.

They also have an immediate dental benefit. No deductible up to $5,000 per year. OON pays 80% UCR for preventitive, 65% UCR 1st year basic, 80% thereafter and on Major 20% UCR 1st year and 50% thereafter. Implants and orthodontia (in network) have $1,500 lifetime maximums. You can add vision and hearing, which have waiting periods.

Those seem pretty good . Which one do you sell ?So the first one they pay 70% of preventive, basic and major ? So if root canal $1200 with outside dentist they pay 60% of that in month 1-12 ,70% month 13-24 and 80% month 25 on? So the same %'s for vision and hearing ? So you can anywhere for the glasses ? So will most providers in n dental and vision bill the insurance or do you have to pay and get reimbursed ? How are the rates ? What's each plan called so I can run sine rates . What's the commission on each ? There hospital plan is worthless . They do phone interviews and fully underwrite outside Gi periods and they have one yr wait on preexisting even if Gi . Medico is Gi 60-79 with 6 month preexisting and the cancer rider is also Gi which is crazy .

I sell both. The DVH plan has a 12 month wait on root canals. The Select plan has immediate dental benefit for Major.

I haven't seen a dentist yet that won't file with Manhattan. Not sure about vision. if a provider won't file, they can be reimbursed.

They both have 55% FYC/8% renewals.

Dental is all I sell with Manhattan.

I remember when you had that 55% contract I got contracted but I don't think it's active . I remember that senior fmo out of Texas was pissed at you for broadcasting the mga comp and westfall was mad at Boman for giving above street contracts

According to their website Physician's Mutual Dental provides benefit payments for 400 different dental service codes.

How many dental service codes are there?

How many of those codes do major dental insurance carriers such as Delta or Ameritas provide benefit payments for?
