Who Will Sell a Government Plan?

This is quite thought provoking!

I am curious about not only a commission of selling a government plan, but simply what our role might be...

I theorize the government plan will be added to our toolbox, along side the rest of policies and carriers we can offer our clients. We have an obligation to best serve our clients, and if they need, we should be able to deliver, yes?

Either way, thanks for everyone's comments and feedback.

It's all my fault. If I wouldn't of decided to become an insurance agent this wouldn't be happening.

Every field I get into goes to hell LOL!

Maybe I'll open up a lawn care business so some guy can announce he just invented a new type of grass that only grows so tall.

The same ones that now handle Medicare. BCBS! And if no agents will be involved. You might as well say we need to start thinking about a different career!

Okay, well I will let you get more input from the successful independent health agents here who are from guaranteed issue states. Let me know what you find out.

Good point, but how is it working in those states?
Meanwhile, Canada moves toward the private sector.
Experiments only.
I know what's next. "Their gonna have their "trigger" and keep angle'n toward the public plan, etc ..." No doubt, but I see it like this.
No public plan, no free ride for the Leroys, the Consuela's, and yes, the bubba's / bobby sues (you know, the people with nothing to lose) therfore no second term.
Business as usual. Let us pray.

Yeh,

Wanna experience a living testimonial to Darwin's theory of evolution?
Go to Bama on any giving day and listen for the following ...

"Hey Billy Bob, watch this ..."

I hear what you are saying wintafresh, buta, I don't think that is gonna fly in any state where the I.Q. of the average punter is above 60.
People, smart ones that is, want knowledgeable, experienced insurance sales / service.
Look, I about soiled myself in fear back when ehealth first came on the scene. I'll bet most of you guys did. Are they still around? Yep. Are we still around? Yep. Also of course, people can go "direct" with any company online. If we were going to get "phased out" by the internet it would have happened by now. Let them have the single mothers and the know it all grad student leaving college or the obnoxious one who figures he can do it on his own because he had an insurance license 18 years ago and worked one summer with his daddy selling "FE in trailer parks."
BCBSAL does what you are suggesting now. They use no agents. They are getting away with it in Bama ... for the time being.
Did I go over the I.Q. thing in AL earlier?
If there is going to be any fat trimming, it will be done on an internal level not on the street. United shed some administrative deadwood earlier this week I believe?
There are vehicles for the stupids and ones for the not so. People in business just need to understand who their target market is and act accordingly?
Aren't you from Kansas?(HA!)Talk about glass houses! We are here to gain knowledge not learn bashing skills! Cool it! We are not impressed!

The government took over a whore house a few years back for tax evasion in Nevada and it was closed down soon after. If you can't run a successful business promoting sex and booze, Then maybe you should just give up!
:1biggrin:

There is some truth to this.

I think its way to early to tell right now.

Once they idiots in DC put together an actual bill then we will have a clearer picture.

remember what fonzie was like? Cool, so please, let's keep it that way..

anyone have a resource to monitor the passing/failing of the bill? is there any sort of monitor to see what is going on or which way the tide is swinging as this bill moves through congress?

Many thanks!

You just have to jump in and stay in tune. Problem is there is not just one bill in the House and the Senate has its own versions going. And then there will be reconciliations and conference bills etc, so the most we can do is just stayed tuned to what the lay of the land is each week.

For starters though,

This section of the forum is what I mostly use to stay up to date. I have no idea how Winter runs a business and keeps up with all that's going on, but I certainly appreciate it. Some of the carriers are also good about sending out updates (Anthem sends one out weekly on what happened during the week).
