"You Are Going To Fail!"

Thanks everyone. Quick update. Week has been great and I love being independent. As far as the agency I left, they have contacted all my clients and are telling them I no longer work for them and someone needs to come out to their house to make sure I had them set up correctly. My phone at the office there also recieved voicemails but not only can I not access them anymore, he is using them for leads. Thats quite a low blow in my books, but it was not unexpected. I contacted all my clients and told them the story, it actually gave me more credibility and some more business!

Welcome to the world of freedom, financial success and frustration.

You will have days that seem totally unproductive then all of a sudden everything you touch will turn to gold. Although it may now seem like it, during the "unproductive days" you will be laying important ground work for the ones that will be "golden".

It may seem like just luck at first but after a while you will recognize it for what it really is, the culmination of the hard work you are putting into it. Luck is something that you make happen.

This business is a series of hills and valleys. The hills will seem like the highest and the valleys can be some of the deepest. However, they are easy to come out of.

I like your attitude. That's the spirit! So much motivation and optimism in life ;-) No wonder you'll succeed.

Getzer928,

Congratulations on your move. Stay positive and make your own wave enthusiasm. There will be some hard times and disappointments but keep plugging away. You are right it was expected that the agency was going to to contatc your clients they werent going to just let you walk out the door with them. They will retaion some and you will take some. Don't expect to get them all. The clients who bought you will probably follow the clients that bought because of price will probably stay unless you can do better then what they have.

You stated many of your co-works believe in what you are doing and "wanted in". Have you spoken with them to get in? Either partner up or work for you? I say this because you need to strike while the iron is hot. If they want in and you want them in and have them markets for them to succeed. Don't wait take them now. The more time that goes by the less likely they are to move. Same goes with your clients.

If you can take one or two top producers and the hot office assitant that office will be in disarary like a mortar round landed in the middle of the camp. The owner will become suspicious of everyone and starting looking around to see where the next mortar is going to land. The agency will begin to implode. Clients won't be serviced properly and you and your staff will be positive and up beat writting business.

I speak from experience. That is how I got started. While I didn't put the agency I worked for out of business in 12 months we were as big as they were. I took the majority of my book and the producers that came with me took the majority of theirs.

Again, congrats and good luck with your new endeavor

I left my captive NYL contract to go indy along with some friends in the office who had decided to start their own brokerage firm. This was over a year ago.

The managing partner told us and everyone else in the office that we would be out of business in 3 months flat! lol.
He also now even claims that we are "amateurs" & even "crooks" when speaking about us to his agnts, potential recruits or clients. Thats funny, because he used to consider all of us some of his top agents...! lol
And his trash talk has worked against him severely in the past few months.
The only crook was the captive company where I wasnt vested in my renewals!!!

But when we left almost every senior agent in the office (20+years) congratulated us and told us that they wish they had done the same thing 20 years ago!
Thats a strong statement.

I have never been in a better position professionally at this point.

So where are the naysayers on here when it comes to positive thinking, succeeding and achieving? Kind of odd that they pick and choose their battles but I'm pleasantly surprised.

Great job Getz!!! Love to hear it, and here's a Liano quote for ya:

"If anyone tells you that something can't be done, remember that they are correct but only when it pertains to them, not to you." ~~Liano

Great to hear....Stay the course through thick and thin...

You don't have to tell them anything, nor submit to ill wishes, your success is the best and only thing you have to let speak.
