This is crazy. Enrollments start in October & yet we have no concrete info on whats going to happen for commissions or anything else for the matter. I heard enough info from seminars but nothing in writing. This is Bull Sh*t!!

No finalized and approved prices from HHS in FFE's, no commission communication.

Just go ahead and spend your marketing dollars on a hope and a prayer like any smart small business owner would do

Or at least go and take the CMS courses to get certified SamIAm, before HHS changes their mind about them being FREE of charge.

You aint lying................1

Lets see....I need to get certified(6 hour classroom instruction only), and, pass a test.

I'll only jump through all the hoops after you tell me how much I will make.

Not the reverse!

I hope the carriers realize the plight that agents are in, and understand that agents are not going to spend money on advertising, seminars, marketing, etc. until we see the commission contracts in writing.

Do you realize the plight the carriers are in? This administration doesn't seem to have a clue how to implement this. How can they predict commissions when the rules are still being in written or delayed.

California...classroom only? Crap. I think New York is that way too. Extreme positions from the two coasts. Let's hope its not contagious. Those who wait until after the Exchanges go live may need to be fingerprinted and have background checks if too much fraud materializes.

First, a completely unsubstantiated rumor from a BCBS agent I know. He said he heard a Blue Cross employee say that agent commissions for enrolling people in the exchanges would be $15 each.

Hope that turns out to be wrong. I cannot imagine anyone living under CMS rules and investing time and effort to enroll people for the equivalent of a happy meal for two. $15 makes the $56 I get for Medicare PDP enrollments look sweet!!

If these carriers actually paid $15 per enrollment I believe they would be handling 100% of them in-house, and that can't happen. Using military terms, this would be the biggest cluster-foxtrot in history if the carriers have to handle everything.

On second thought, it's going to be a C-Ftrot no matter what. But I digress.

Now, something more intriguing. This language appears in one of the first CMS training courses I have gone through:

A QHP issuer must pay the same broker compensation for QHPs offered through a Federally-facilitated Marketplace as they do for similar health plans offered in the state but outside the Federally-facilitated Marketplace. In fact, this compensation approach is a required condition of the QHP certification process for QHPs offered in the Federally-facilitated Marketplaces and Federally-facilitated SHOP.

Now surely to goodness we can't be getting full commission on these enrollments -- but the above verbiage came straight from the CMS training. Or are the carriers going to drop our commission for health plans to $15 now? Inquiring minds want to know.

What's a man to think about this??

Humana hasn't shown themselves to be foolish (wanting to be in all states), but they've shown they are attempting to be aggressive where they are. I'm thinking their comp plans will be better than $15 PMPM.

What is interesting is seeing where BCBS does come out. I think they are going to be the first to release in most markets, or that's what other carriers are waiting on, instead of them setting the market.
