2010 AARP Med Supp Sales

Two questions has anyone gotten the new apps from AARP and Can you sell AARP Med Supp prior to Birth month I just finished the new 2010 Modernized Med Supp training and it says sales period begins on birth month and goes 6 months past. Not 3 months before and 3 months after. What about the other companies? Can they still sell three months before?

You can sell it 3 months before to be effective the birth month for a T65.

Go to unitedhealthproducers to get the apps...download and print

You are confusing the open enrollment period for a medigap policy that runs for 6 months with the IEP for MA plans.

I sold three cases of the modernized aarp medsupp. Issue was quick with no hassle and the UW guide is posted.

Actually OEP for med supps runs to <7 months (No underwriting required) after T65 according to the Chart they used in the certification training, I have a copy of the chart. I was inquiring or rather clarifying, if this still meant we could do this 3 months before and three months after Birth month or if this meant we could not write until birth month and go out 7 months. I went back on website and the Florida Apps are now available (not at time of post) for order but I don't see Florida Apps that you can download. Thanks Chazm for the clarification. Sorry Chazm for the weak first post, but I thought the purpose of this forum was for Agents to share information and clarify questions not be criticized for asking a question. I guess with only 11 post under my belt I have not made to your level of expertise yet. I will strive to do better.

Actual OEP runs to the end of the 3rd month after the month in which they turn 65. You can write from the beginning of the 3rd month before age 65, until the end of the 3rd month after 65. The OEP period is 7 months long.

AARP allows 3 years worth of u/w as if they were a OEP with early enrollment bonus, as long as there is no surgery pending and no esrd. They'll u/w a copd client on nebulizer at early enrollment discount rates until after 68th birthday. You can do the app as long as 3 months before age 65, as long as they have their medicare card already.

I may be confused, won't be the first time. Please help me out if I didn't understand the question.

Agents can write a Med Supp on seniors turning 65 with the app dated six months before they go on Medicare. Very seldom will a senior write a check for the first months premium that far in advance.

Open Enrollment period begins on the effective date of Part B and lasts for six months.

All companies that I am aware of will allow an agent to write a Med Supp app and advance the effective date up to three months in advance of the application date.
