2010 Interest Crediting Rates Came In

Yep, I have a few people that have quite a bit more money who were waiting to see how things went. Timing could not be better. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I think the reason is 1) Indexed annuities are fixed annuity contracts and not investments and 2) the use of "Equity" indexed annuities (EIA) insinuate investment in equities, whereas indexed annuities are co-mingled funds that an issuer invests in products that "mirror" an equity index such as the S&P. The issuer then turns around and re-imburses the client's account a guaranteed return plus gains over that, if warranted, up to the max return or cap in the contract. This puts a bigger distance between the FIA as a contract and that of an investment, which are funds that are directly exposed to market risk.
