Reading what next years deductibles and copays will be and one thing jumped out at me.

Everything is set for 2010. For example it says: In 2010 your part A deductible is $1100.

Everything else is prefaced with "In 2010.... "

except...

In 2009 your part B ded. is $135...

What the hell??? Have they not set the ded. YET?

Its like that every year. They send these books out with old info. Im suprised it had a different Part A ded.

Most of the time the first edition of the book doesn't have the new information. Like the previous poster I'm surprised that it has the new Part A deductible, although based on past experience I think that may be decided before the Part B premium and deductible are.

When I was selling MA plans very often the Summary of Benefits would have the deductibles and Part B premium from the previous year because that information hadn't been released in time to print the books.

Part B will be the same for those $85K single, $170K joint next year for those having their SS retiree income deducted from their SS checks because of legislation in place that protects them from Part B increases lowering their monthly checks from previous payments. There will be no COLA next year, thus no Part B increase...This was announced last April. The only question is for the remaining Medicare benes... those with higher incomes or on Medicare and not retired, etc. My guess is that it will remain the same, but I guess they are testing the political waters to see what reaction they will get if they discriminate, therefore did not commit themselves in the 2010 pub.

edit: CMS announcement later today here CMS ANNOUNCES MEDICARE PREMIUMS, DEDUCTIBLES FOR 2010
