2026 Proposed Rule

Without cleaning up the border y'all won't have to worry about govt. agencies ... including Medicare.
What day this week are they going to start the round up is the gop states, I see a couple of Florida congressional reps sent a letter to 3 bills asking him to let the illegals stay in FL, need them to pick crops and clean hotel rooms, you know those good paying USA jobs

So above it all and morally superior until someone YOU know is hurt or worse by someone who is here illegally ..? 13,000 murders came in over the last 4 years ... give it a break?

The issue is - and this is NOT a political issue - is that we an increasingly smaller ratio of younger people to older people paying into the system. In 1920 it was about 20 younger people for each older person for. In 2024 it was 2.9 younger for each older person (down from 3:1 in 2022). The ratio will continue to shrink because the youngest boomers have a ways to go until they retire. The population bubble post WW2 (eg the baby boom generation) is behind this.

The trouble is that this means fewer people are supporting SS, subsidies for medicare, having taxes withdrawn from paychecks, etc. That creates financial issues for these programs, money coming which affects a chunk of our deficit... WORKING illegals pay into the system with money withdrawn from their paychecks for SS and Medicare (many work on "borrowed" SS numbers for example stolen numbers or the number of a born here child in their family who has a legal number, unless they are working for a small, cash only employer but it also has to be in a profession where most money coming into the company is normally cash because of the tax issues that would otherwise create for the employer) which helps increase what comes in to support those programs.

Add to that that younger people are having fewer children than the boomers did and the population ratio will continue to decrease due to that as well. China is having problems now due to their one child rule and about 25% of the men never got married nor had kids. That is why wages are going up in China and they are off shoring manufacturing. The difference between USA's off shoring and China's is that we contract with factories. China owns them in Cambodia, Vietnam, etc. The greatest profit is turning raw materials into the finished product. The rest of the chain getting goods to market and selling them to the consumer has a smaller profit margin. Our country's decrease in home manufacturing hasn't helped. But of course wages are cheaper in less developed countries which makes goods cheaper. This is NOT an easy problem to solve as you can't instantly created industries with skilled factory workers when those industries are now long gone and so are the factory workers.

This is, actually, a good argument for increasing LEGAL immigration and increasing the number of work visas as these people will pay into the system and increase the number of people younger than the boomers in the system which will help decrease the issues of our country with a population bubble where fewer and fewer are working due to age (and ours isn't the only one - Japan is a canary in the mine for this but this is a growing problem in many countries).

Again this is NOT political - I am looking at the financial impact of the growing bubble of people 65+ compared to the population busts that followed.

I have zero issue with LEGAL immigration. That's the problem, either we have these bleeding heart SJW's who believe in open borders or you're a white supremacist who doesn't want anyone coming in ... neither is right.

Am I missing something, or do you have these ratios reversed? We have fewer young people vs older these days, not more.

Dude -- what does "set a letter to 3 bills" mean? Besides being indoctrinated by the dark side, your spelling and grammar look like an indictment of public schools. Might suggest proofreading your posts before hitting "Post Reply."
