Forgot to mention that when I was in school, we didn't have the buckboard..(that only came about after I got to selling FE insurance and making the big bucks).. I walked 5 miles to class each day............ barefooted...........in the snow ........ uphill both ways.

You had it easy. According to my dear old Dad(rest his soul), he walked 6 miles each way to school and back.....barefoot.....in the snow.....uphill both ways(in the Ozarks).
