Well it seems that I overachieved and got a 92 on my exam today. The prometric people said it was the highest score they have seen at that location (its Texas so... grain of salt).

Anyway I feel good even though I should have taken the test a month ago as it appears i was beyond ready.

Now I just need to get appointments and find a group to join (making phone calls tomorrow).

I do want to thank most of the people on this fourm for helping me get motivated to reboot my life by getting my gen life license.

Ouch, this brings back a painful memory.

As I recall, you need a 70% score to pass the Series 7 test. I studied and studied and wound up with an 86% on my first try. MAN was I proud. Chest puffed out, I walked into the office and proudly announced to my boss that I had passed with an 86.

"Great," he mumbled. "You studied 16% too hard. Now hit the phones."

Painful indeed. My first financial industry job was as a futures broker. The morning after I passed series 3, the manager tossed me a stack of 200 index cards with a one page script and said 'Start dialing'. There were guys in that outfit who could make high 6 figures if they would only know about insurance.

Yep, many people in my field look down on insurance, and that's a big mistake, both professionally and financially. I look at the two as working together hand in hand.

10 years ago i had my series 7, life, 6...
I hate to admit I was trained to look down on insurance. If only I knew then what I know now I would have stayed in the business and focused on insurance.

Yep. I guess it's an advantage, because when I bring up insurance-related tactics to prospects, they often say, "hmm, I wonder why my current advisor didn't tell me about this." One caveat - I only use annuities or CVLI for a portion of their assets, and if appropriate.

I always wanted to be a stock broker because I thought that was exciting and very sophisticated. When I came to understand insurance I realized that this was the "real way" to help most people.

Shalom, are you Jewish? I like your screen name.
