AARP Townhall Meeting on Health Care

So...what do do if you're AARP running a town hall meeting and the seniors actually voice their opinion? Easy, walk out.

AARP has been running off members ever since they were involved in passing the part D drug plans. They don't have the support of their members politically like they want everybody to think. Most people that are members do it for the discounts and sometimes they think they can get discounted insurance from them.

This is not your grandfather's generation of seniors. Some of these folks are products of the 60's and know about protesting, street theater, and gorrilla tactics or, on a lesser level, just plain questioning authority. Everyone always wondered what it might look like when they aged and we may find out.

Plus they are all hip to the fact that AARP is a weasel and plays both ends and the middle. AARP is in bed with the government and the insurance companies but still tries to play the "we are looking out for you" bit. Doesnt work so much anymore does it? The government wants to fund health reform by sending granny out to pasture earlier and denying grandpa his hip replacement (and grandpa may only be 55) and yet Obama is crowing about having the support of AARP.

As previously stated, if Obama likes negotiating with enemies he will love going down to the local senior citizen center. It will make talking to N. Korea and Iran look like a cakewalk. I am still thinking that is true and then some.
