    IMO, anyone who is married and insurable, both spouses should have coverage.

    Why is it so difficult for people to quantify what life would be like for either spouse financially? And these folks cry the loudest when something happens.

    On a pure survivor needs analysis, you each would need less coverage than you otherwise might if you did not have your careers.

    That said, my gut reaction is yes. Get coverage for both of you.

    Lots (I mean tens of thousands) of survivor needs calculators on the web that will help you piece it together. Good luck.
