I am new to selling insurance and was curious if anyone can recommend the best of the following for Auto or Life insurance:

1. System which provides online comparative rates to the prospect and allows prospect to purchase insurance themselves online without assistance.

2. Agency/MGA - Who is the best to work for (who allows you to concentrate on sales and handles customer service for you

3. Commissions - what type of commission structure should I expect

4. Contracting - What is the easiest way for me to get contracted in as many states as possible

Thank you so much for your help

So, why do they need you then? You want someone to provide a turnkey system that requires no involvement from you, and then pay you for it?

Think about it for awhile.

I can help.

Send me your people that want to buy. I will contract you and give you a split.

You do realize #1 and #2 cancel each other out, right?

I hope it never comes to where an insurance company no longer needs insurance agents. Where a client can just go to a website , quote and buy life insurance and never need an agent.

They pretty much can. And guess what? They don't buy. Agents have job security as long as consumers have to be sold life insurance. As big a douche as they are, pikers like Dave and Suzy keep the companies from dumping agents.

Auto insurance seems to be the biggest online thing today. But maybe that's because the state's set minimal limits and the health of the client isn't usually involved.
As long as there is a multitude of different types of policies and different benefits involved we should be in demand.
Maybe it's time for the life insurance companies to come up with another type of insurance. Since they took WL and Term and put them together and called it UL, maybe we can take Term and Universal and put them together. Would we call that Terminal Insurance?

I was looking for some ground beef that would cook itself and then place itself on a bun ready to eat.
I gave up and went to McDonalds.

Actually, very, very little auto insurance is sold purely online. Most involves a phone call, even by companies you think have perfected the online experience.

I don't have actual statistics, but I would guess more health insurance applications are submitted online without agent involvement than auto policies (in percentage of shoppers).

Try it. Go to esurance.com, buy an auto policy. Your phone will ring before you can print in that point, click, (ring, ring), print statement. There may be exceptions, but I don't know of many people who bought auto insurance without intervention.

JDawg - You are living a dream! Getting paid to do very little. Years ago, I had a similar dream. Then I realized nobody would need me if you could do business that way.
