AETNA - Withdraws From Ohio Exchange

"Aetna has reversed course on plans to participate in Ohio’s federally-mandated health insurance exchange next year. The company told the state late last week it was withdrawing its plans from consideration to be on the Ohio exchange. The plans had been pending approval by the Ohio Department of Insurance, said Ohio Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor. This could mean less competition for those insurance firms that are participating in the exchange."

This could mean less competition for those insurance firms that are participating in the exchange.

But still the same amount of competition outside of the exchange as there was before Health Care Reform.

Despite what Aetna says, I'm not convinced they ever intended to participate in the Ohio Exchange. Their rates are not competitive and I was told they "probably would not" participate a few weeks ago.
