In my opinion the prosecutor should be disbarred. The woman got all of her money back and no one suffered a loss. If there was an issue about the sale it could have been addressed by the Department of Insurance smacking the agent on the hand. This was the work of a prosecutor with a politically correct agenda (the big nasty crooked insurance agent verus the poor helpless senior).

Has the conviction been overturned yet?

I doubt you could get the prosecutor disbarred as long as it stands.

Also, what are you going to disbar for? The jury convicted. Even if it is overturned on appeal, unless the prosecutor committed another act meriting disbarment, it seems well within the prosecutor's discretion to take the case to trial.

I got the same email. I assumed the same thing, that the email account was compromised.

Glen - can you confirm that you are not stuck in the Philippines? The story above makes little sense so I assume not.

Glenn, I just got an email from you where someone hacked your email. I would change my password.

The email said:
I really hope you get this fast. I could not inform anyone about my trip because it was impromptu, I had to be in Manila Philippines for a program. The program was successful but my journey has turned sour, I misplaced my wallet and cell phone on my way back to the hotel i lodged after i went for sight seeing. The wallet contained all the valuables i had. Now my passport is in custody of the hotel management pending when i make payment.

I am sorry if i am inconveniencing you but i have only few people to run to now. I will be indeed very grateful if i can get a loan of $2,350 from you, This will enable me sort my hotel bills and get my sorry self back home. I will really appreciate whatever you can afford in assisting me. I promise to refund it in full as soon as I return home. Let me know if you can be of any assistance, Please let me know soonest. Thanks so much.

Glenn

Someone hacked into my e-mail account a little over 2 years ago with this exact same message, only I was stranded in London. It was sent to all of my contacts. They sent it to one of my IMO's, and I asked them if they sent the money. They said no, they thought the money would be better spent putting it toward a Christmas party.:D I was never able to get back into that account, because the hacker changed the password. I spent lots of time and described lots of specifics, but I couldn't recover the account because the folks at Microsoft couldn't determine that it was mine. What a waste of time!

P.S. Good luck to you Glenn. This seems so ridiculous, when there are real crooks out there they should be going after!

Was starting to think things were going sour on the appeal and you had run..... Just Kidding....I got an email like that from a client a year of so ago saying she was in London....Makes you wonder how many people in my email contacts would be close enough to me to be willing to send 2 grand my way but not be close enough to know that I wasn't taking an international trip.
