Medicare is underfunded and unless people are willing to pay in more, it won't survive. Right now the system does work for millions of Americans, with quality health care.
Correct. Remember that for the most part, the people paying for it are not those receiving benefits.

The key to what you wrote is "Right now the system does work." And government spending works right now also.

Be nice to your kids. We've screwed them.

It doesn't work now? LOL. You're kidding.......right?

No, I am quite serious.

As far as throwing more money at it, unless there is, it will fail.

It's already failing.

Unless the underlying issues that cripple Medicare are addressed throwing more money at it will do nothing other than delay the inevitable.

There you go again. Failing to acknowledge or address the REAL problem with Medicare.

I had a guy -one time- try to convince me that medicare and universal health was the best option- this guy went to Cornell. This article is from a dean at Cornell. I don't know what this says about Cornell, but, we are headed towards some sort of nationalized healthcare, really soon. I don't know which plan they will go with, but the politicians think we would be happier with it. That's their whole deal, is to make us happy, so we vote for them and then we think they are our heros. We practice hero worship- in this country.

And there's a lot of things failing...some already have...Jim Rogers calls most big U.S. banks bankrupt | Industry Summits | Reuters

You gonna take your money out of the bank?

As far as me acknowledging or addressing the REAL problem with Medicare....what exactly do you want me to do?

It might help if you understood the issues facing Medicare (and health care in general) and come to a realization that throwing more money at it will NOT solve the problems.

You (we) have to fix the underlying issues affecting the cost of health care before pissing away money we don't have.

Like I haven't read up on it?

One of the biggest one that folks refuse to confront, is the issue of the number of, and percentage of, dollars spent on folks that won't last another year...

Do we really have the kind of unlimited budget that allows us to pull out every stop to keep Grandma alive for another four months?
